Some experiences rock our lives to and fro; when many of them coincide, they can shake us up. Discovering steel and how I can combine it with wood has been a way for me to work through such experiences.
This sculptural rocking stool captures some experiences of transition and transformation I have had in my work and life. Two different entities become one; two materials come together, forming a new one. Ideas travel from one context to another, giving shape to previously unfamiliar material. Dark and light unite, as do rugged and soft, steel and wood.
